SWCB receives two awards in 2014 International Project Management Competition

In order to respond to public opinions more efficiently, the SWCB established its “Mobile information management and public opinion analysis” system in 2008. The system, which has helped the administration keep good track of public opinion report process and to react with alacrity, brought the two awards: the 2014 Enterprise Project Management Benchmarking Award and PMI Taiwan Best Practice on Project Management Award, to the SWCB. These awards recognize the system’s performance and the SWCB public opinion team’s efforts and spirit in performing supervision duties.

According to the SWCB, public opinions were collected manually in the past before the  system was installed and put into use; it offers higher management efficiency and reduces labor costs. That sets a good example in the entire administration. As recent years have seen a trend toward introducing project management concepts into the public sector, the SWCB’s introduction of project management to its public opinion system aims to improve its service efficiency. Public news and media are important "way" in transmitting the general public’s opinions, and they also play a role in supervising the government, so it is crucial for the administration to engage in effective, efficient communications and to respond with appropriate timing.

The awards are organized by Project Management Institute-Taiwan Chapter (PMI-TW). All submissions are reviewed in the preliminary stage by the host organization, and then judged by experts in the industry, government and academia. A total of 11 organizations received the awards. At the awards ceremony Today (November 22nd), SWCB Deputy Director-General Lin Chong-Li, who received the award on behalf of the team, said that winning the two awards in 2014 International Project Management Competition was a great boost to the SWCB public opinion team’s spirits; he believes that the team will continue applying more resources and technology to improve the government’s efficiency.
