Soil and Water Conservation in May Month of Soil and Water Conservation in 2018 Conservation of Mountain and Water GO! GO! GO! - Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation, MOA

In order to draw the public’s attention to soil and water conservation and prevent disasters, Soil and Water Conservation Bureau (SWCB) enacted May as the month of soil and water conservation and promoted skills and concept of soil and water conservation. On May 6, on Floral Plaza of Taipei Floral Expo Park, it held “Carnival of Mountain and Water Conservation GO! GO! GO!” and launched press conference and performance presentation. In this year, the activity was expanded with disaster prevention of national army and it invited the participation of public and private sectors as carnival.

In this year, press conference of opening of soil and water conservation month was divided into three zones: “stage”, “presentation stall” and “presentation of mobile publicity vehicle” to demonstrate promotion outcome of soil and water conservation, prevention of debris flow and rural village renewal. By sharing of science popularization, creativity brainstorming, learning guidance, exchange experience and result integration, it aims to invite more people to engage in soil and water conservation and rural village education and successively accumulate results in order to convey the significance of environmental sustainability and respect to the land to the public.

The following activities of soil and water conservation month in this year will be impressive. It will combine city and county governments and educational and agricultural units around Taiwan and hold more than 100 “educational activities of soil and water conservation in May” in northern, central, southern, and eastern Taiwan in order to encourage all people to participate in soil and water conservation, reinforce concepts of soil and water conservation and disaster prevention; in addition, by more than 50 activities such as mobile library vehicles and teaching material presentation of soil and water conservation in Taiwan, knowledge of soil and water conservation and disaster prevention can approach remote areas.
