2015 Wumile Community: Market of Rice Food and Handicraft Industry - Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation, MOA

On November 28 and 29, Tainan City Houbi District Wumile Community Development Association held industrial revitalization activity on Chingliao Old Street. The topic of activity was “back-to-the-ancients PARTY”. Participants could experience back-to-the-ancients party which combined local traditional industry and culture. In the speech, Director-General Chen-yang Lee of the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau (SWCB) stated that with the change of environment, local traditional people and things in rural communities were disappearing. He acknowledged the efforts of Wumile Community on preservation of old streets, blue dye creation, Katsi grandmothers’ straw plaited articles, handmade brown sugar with innovation. He expected that the highlight activities of rural rejuvenation allow more people to recognize the advantages of rural communities and attract more youths to return to homeland to make efforts to their villages.
