Delegation of the Benroth Village in Germany visited Taiwan - Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation, MOA

The award-winning community of Taiwan’s 1st Gold Medal Rural Competition visited Germany last year, and learned from the German experience. Four Gold Medal villages in Germany established sister villages with 14 communities in Taiwan. In 2019, a total of ten representatives of the Benroth Village in Rhine, Germany, including the village head Mr. Maik, visited Taiwan from October 13 to 26, and exchanged with their sister villages in Taiwan, including the Yungan Community (Taitung), Sanho Community (Taoyuan), Miaoli Golden Town Leisure Agriculture Area, Nanfeng Community (Nantou), and Yihsin Community (Nantou). Chang-Li Lin (Deputy Director General) led the welcoming group and held a discussion seminar, in which they exchanged and shared their rural development experiences and results. The village head, Mr. Maik, said that Taiwan’s rural areas are deeply impressive in terms of the efforts and results in environmental education practices, ecological conservation habitat creation, tribal culture preservation and revitalization, children’s education, and the six-level development of the leisure industry.
