SWCB and Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources (VIGMR) experts and scholars worked together in North Vietnam to carry out preliminary assessment and planning of the soil and sand observation demonstration station in Can Ho A area, Ban Khoang Village, Shaba District, Laojie Province. A soil and sand disaster occurred in this area at 9:00 p.m. on September 4, 2013, causing 10 houses had been destroyed by floods and serious damage to residents. Taiwan's experience in the construction of debris flow observation stations was shared with Vietnam during this visit.
Through on-site environmental investigation and on-site discussion, suggestions on the construction plan of debris flow observation stations in the region were put forward, which would be of great help to promote substantial international cooperation between the two countries.
