Technical Exchange and Cooperation Project on Soil and Water Conservation between Taiwan and Thailand

A delegation of five specialists fromthe Land Development Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand, came to Taiwan for 10-day training and sitevisits. The training was given by experts and scholars in relation to debris flow prevention, soil and water conservation, as well as watershed conservation and management.Furthermore, staff members of the SWCB and its branches introduced the implementation and achievements of relevant theories and practice in Taiwan. Site visits were also arranged for the specialists to obtain a better understanding ofTaiwan’scurrent slopeland soil and water conservationmeasures, disaster scale on the sites, and management engineering as well as methods.

Technical specialists from Land Development Department (LDD) and Soil and Water Conservation Bureau (SWCB)

Arrangement::

Senior staffs from SWCB will explain the methods used and consequences of the implementation related to landslide, erosion control and slope-land utilization and management around Taiwan with site-visiting. Furthermore, the collaborative academic units or technical service agencies would also specify the steps of implementation both in a theoretical and practical ways, together with on-site survey so as to find out the detailed historic disaster and controlling engineering.
