Tainan Session of the 2018 Sediment Forum - Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation, MOA

Official Opening of the Forum

In order to enhance sediment responsive capacity of Taiwan, The Soil and Water Conservation Bureau (SWCB) convened 2018 Sediment Forum and held preparation conference in International Conference Hall (Tainan) of National Cheng Gung University on March 22, 2018 and formal conference in Chang Yung-fa Foundation International Conference Hall (Taipei) on April 23 and invited the participants from different circles. Regarding sediment development, it constructed five objectives “balance, harmony, intelligence, precision and autonomy” and developed eight strategies to accomplish the vision of “harmony in the mountains and smart disaster prevention”.

According to Director-General Lee of SWCB, preparation conference in Tainan on March 22, 2018 is the leading one of 2018 Sediment Forum in order to enhance participation and discussion of experts and scholars in different circles. Suggestions and responses acquired from this preparation conference would be included in formal conference in Taipei on April 23 to modify the strategies. Upon the re-discussion with elites from industrial, governmental and academic circles, this forum aims to trigger new thoughts of sediment control and develop common consensus to establish the following sediment control strategy and executive guidelines.
