SWCB, the Forestry Bureau, and the Water Resources Agency jointly organized “2018 Symposium on Debris Dam Disaster Prevention and Control Technologies” at GIS Convention Center, NTU. Hung-Shih Yang (Forestry Bureau, Deputy Director General), Yi-feng Wang (Deputy Director General, Water Resources Agency) and Tsan-tang Ko (General Engineering Division, SWCB) jointly opened the symposium. The symposium consisted of a total of 6 topics. Takiguchi, Deputy Director of the Sabo Planning Division of Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and other four experts as well as two experts and scholars, Shu-chiun Chen (Dean) and Chia-chun Tung (Director), from Taiwan, shared the debris dam cases in Japan, Indonesia and New Zealand, the courses on disaster response, dam break characteristics and training of investigators and disposers, which were very abound and practical.
